What is a homelab?

A home lab is one or more computers you set up to run software for yourself at home. It's basically your own personal cloud that you can do anything you want with. You could run alternatives to major cloud services or develop your own brand new software. It can be as simple or as complicated as you want. You could start with an old laptop or a raspberry pi.

• Paperless (document archive)
• Syncthing (file sync like dropbox)

What will the Engineer Cafe homelab do?

The Engineer Cafe homelab is a community project to generate new ideas and run interesting services that serve the community. It is intentionally open ended. We want to develop and grow with ideas from the community. First we will aim to run a simple linux server and get people to host basic static pages. Next up we need a good solution for authentication.

What hardware will you use?

We are 3D printing the open source LabRax rack. We have several raspberry pis and mini computers to use as the initial servers. We expect our hardware will grow over time.

How can I get involved?

• Build your own homelab at home and share what you've done
